EE UK Android 11 (Android R) update: Is your phone eligible

EE is the largest mobile network operator in the UK and it offers several Android phones that may bag the upcoming Android 11 update. But before taking a look at the list of eligible devices, let’s first check out a few details surrounding Android 11 and its release.

Like most Android announcements for the past few years, Google was expected to reveal Android 11 at its Google I/O event. But the rapid spread of COVID-19 led to the company canceling its plans for the in-person event.

Instead, Google released the first Android 11 beta for the Pixel devices with a brief announcement on Reddit. OnePlus was the next vendor to follow suit and released the beta for its flagships. Soon after, OEMs such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Realme also released the Android 11 beta for their flagship phones.

Google Pixel 4

By the beginning of July, the Android 11 beta was already available on 13 devices from 7 vendors. But that’s not all, Tecno Mobile also joined these major OEMs and released the beta for the Tecno Pouvoir 4. This goes to show that Android vendors have begun taking OS updates a lot more seriously than a few years ago.

On that note, let’s now take a look at possible Android 11 eligible phones offered by EE in the UK.
